**Recognized for Excellence in Medical Laser Technology**
Busan-based startup **T-Cure** has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ private investment-led program **“Deep-tech TIPS”**, securing up to 1.7 billion KRW in project funding.
Founded in 2020 as a Pukyong National University faculty startup, T-Cure specializes in developing laser-based medical devices for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). With this TIPS selection, the company has been recognized for its technological strength in the medical laser field.
T-Cure plans to develop and commercialize a **“Through-the-scope catheter-based fusion endoscopic treatment system with omnidirectional light irradiation”** to treat refractory gastrointestinal diseases. This innovation improves upon conventional straight-fiber medical lasers and is particularly suited for tubular organ diseases. Potential applications include treatment of GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, and type 2 diabetes.
CEO **Kang Hyun-wook** stated, “With the global rise in intractable gastrointestinal diseases due to aging and obesity, T-Cure aims to overcome these limitations and grow into a leading company in the medical laser field.”
Meanwhile, **Deep-tech TIPS** is part of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ **“Super-gap Startup 1000+”** policy, designed to nurture promising startups in ten strategic industries. Selected companies receive up to 1.7 billion KRW, including 1.5 billion KRW in R&D funding, along with commercialization and overseas marketing support.
